Mark Bulbs with Kitty Litter

To mark the locations of bulbs in her garden, Geraldine Nelson from New Jersey uses fresh, plain-clay kitty litter.

She adds a tablespoon of the litter under each bulb to improve drainage. Then she mixes a handful into the soil used to backfill the planting hole. And, finally, Geraldine sprinkles a small scoop of kitty litter on the soil’s surface to mark the bulb’s location.

This way, Geraldine knows to stop digging when she encounters kitty litter.
